Feature comedy screenplay, May 2024
Upon a hill in Ithaca, NY, incoming freshman Annie moves into her dorm at Cornell. As a parting gift, her beach-loving mother gives her the old family Honda Odyssey.
Annie settles in for the night. It doesn’t take long for her to call her mom and tell her she wants to go home. Her mom angrily tells her that if she wants to go home, she can drive the Odyssey there herself.
The next morning, Annie calls her best friend, Penny, in panic. Penny, the epitome of relaxed compared to Annie’s constant uptight state, tells Annie to meet her and her friends at a concert in Pittsburgh.
Annie makes it to Pittsburgh. Upon meeting Penny’s friends, she hesitantly accepts their offer to get high (she’s never gotten high before), nearly forgetting she’s supposed to be looking for Penny. She’s only reminded when a security guard asks for IDs. Annie manages to talk her way out of this.
Annie calls Penny. Turns out, there was a slight miscommunication: Penny's friends were in Pittsburgh. Penny? She's across the country in Los Angeles, thousands of miles away. Annie's got farther journey ahead of her than she thought.
